Carrigafoyle 15th Century Medieval Church This 15th century medieval church is situated in Aghavallen parish, roughly 150 metres west of Carrgafoyle tower house. The rectangular-shaped church measures 20.3m x 8.2m externally. The north and south walls have pointed limestone doorways. The east gable had a two light ogee headed window, and in the west gable there is a single cut limestone window plus a circular cannon-port, added when the church was fortified in the 17th century. This circular opening in known locally as a leper hole. There was a two storey priest’s residence at the west end of the church and possibly a belfry. Inside the south doorway is a water stoup. A stringcourse with a parpapet wall runs the full length of the north and south walls.
